Restoring riveted window stay from 1930 Crittall windows

We were approached by an Architect & Designer to plate 17 new replacement window stays.

The cost of manufacturing a small batch of 17 completely new components was very high, so we suggested that the assembly be taken apart, certain badly rusted parts replaced by new brass parts together with a new screwed rather than riveted assembly. The price agreed was 50% of the cost of the manufacture and plating of the all new units.

The units were taken apart, drawings made of the new items required and we contacted two of our customers who could part manufacture the small batch of components required.

Some machining was undertaken by us having made up special tooling to mill a square on one turned part.

The reclaimed part together with the new items were polished chromed and re assembled.

The client comments can be read in our testimonials page.
