Materials

At Baker Engineering we are able to offer nickel plate the following materials:

  • Brass
  • Monel
  • Steel
  • Stainless Steel

Bright Nickel plating

A thin layer of nickel deposited by electroplating.

Properties/Benefits

  • Mirror like deposit
  • Very smooth and hard deposit – durable and strong
  • Most popular Nickel finish

Appearance/Finishes: Bright

Thickness: Between 0.013 – 0.025mm

Applications / Industries

  • Automotive
  • Decorative/ Cosmetic
  • Electrical/Electronics
  • Medical

Satylite Nickel

A dull nickel deposit achieved by the addition of specially formulated solids suspended in the nickel plating solution.

Properties/Benefits

  • Unique lustrous finish

Appearance/Finishes: Lustrous

Thickness: 6 microns – 20 microns

Applications / Industries

Electroless Nickel (EN) Plating

An auto-catalytic chemical process used to deposit a layer of nickel-boron or nickel-phosphorus alloy.

Properties/Benefits

  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Smooth and even coating, excellent for deep recesses and surface variations
  • Controlled plating thickness
  • If heat treated can approach the hardness of chrome (950 VPN, cf 480-600 VPN non-heat treated)
  • Non magnetic
  • Good solderability
  • Good oil wettability
  • Excellent corrosion resistance

Appearance/Finishes: Semi-bright

Thickness: As required

Applications / Industries

  • Engineering where even coverage of component is paramount
